EP: Ruck P – Corcovado

Ruck P, of hip-hop turntable duo Ruck N’ Wiz and nu-disco trio Boulevard 95, releases his first solo EP with Flow-Fi. It’s a snapshot of his production skill, stretching across a broad range of genres from jazz and soul to hip-hop and downtempo. Crisp sounds for some weekend r&r featuring artwork from Aywy.

All Of You – Extremely smooth sample layering right from the needle drop. The suitcase piano plays well alongside the electric guitar — feels like a skilled interpretation of an R&B throwback, especially with the subtle vibraphone solos filling the gaps between a beat carried by that garage-band drum kit.

Corcovado – Much more modern, we see another side of Ruck P’s talent. The sidechained pads give Corcovado a grand and breezy sense of motion, fitting for the title image, ‘hunchback’ mountain looming over Rio with Cristo Redentor atop.
