Roses – Luke Christopher
Now I’ll be honest, we don’t post enough hip hop, so here’s a track that hasn’t let us go lately. Off 19 year old LA rapper-singer-producer-allaroundmusicman Luke Christopher’s mixtape, TMRW TMRW, Roses is an undeniably catchy track sporting a well-chosen sample of famous jazz pianist Erroll Garner. Luke is extremely talented as both a lyricist and a producer, and last week he released a two-part EP, TMRW YSTRDY, that I strongly suggest you throw on sometime this week. If you think Roses is as much of a jam as I do, you won’t be disappointed.

Myself & Others Advent Calendar
Myself & Others is a year-old London promo group organized by freelance music journalists Tiffany Calver and Errol Anderson. The two usually bring budding underground artists to the fore with regular mixtape features, but in the spirit of the season, they’ve put together a musical advent calendar. Hip hop, soul, downtempo — each day is a new earworm coming from rising names like Karma Kid, Ta-ku, and Stwo. We’ll keep updating this playlist as Christmas day draws near; definitely one to keep coming back to.

EP: Ruck P – Corcovado
Ruck P, of hip-hop turntable duo Ruck N’ Wiz and nu-disco trio Boulevard 95, releases his first solo EP with Flow-Fi. It’s a snapshot of his production skill, stretching across a broad range of genres from jazz and soul to hip-hop and downtempo. Crisp sounds for some weekend r&r featuring artwork from Aywy.
Artist Spotlight: Jakubi
Jakubi just released a new single, Couch Potato, and I didn’t even have to listen to know it was worth sharing. Figured, if it’s anything like the material they’ve put out so far, it’s gold. The Australian quintet gave the music world a great first impression when their first three promo singles — Holiday, Can’t Afford It All, and Feels Like Yesterday — all reached #1 on HypeM, effortlessly blending elements of funk, soul and hip-hop with a unique flair. But even if you hadn’t come across Jakubi then, you probably heard Kygo’s remix of Can’t Afford It All: his tropical spin on the opening talkbox riff of lead singer and keyboardist Jerome Farah went big towards the end of last summer.
