sakuraburst – forest of the spirits

Be warned – this song is only for the brave. forest of the spirits is a sensational release off sakuraburst’s new EP blood orange. Not much is known about this UK artist besides their incredibly lush Japanese production chops, but get ready to go on a sonic journey. forest of the spirits is absolutely haunting, rapidly transporting listeners from moments of calm recluse to an incredibly tense synth-didgeridoo drop; hang on for the ride.

imari + sakuraburst – outside

We’re fairly confident you’ve never heard of imari or sakuraburst (to be honest, neither had we until this week), but you should give this small sample a listen. 1:33 blew me away. It’s an experimental ambient track full of lo-fi charm, with bitcrushed synths, ringmod oscillations, delicate percussion and spoken word samples from GLaDOS — an extremely well-crafted soundscape for a liberation from Aperture Laboratories. Listen for the birds in the background, we almost missed them on first listen.
